Amazon Launches ‘Amazon Channels’ In the UK, Germany, and Austria

Already fairly popular in the United States, Amazon announced today that they were launching Amazon Channels in three more areas: the UK, Germany, and Austria.

If you’re not familiar with Amazon Channels, it lets Prime subscribers add network channels for a low monthly fee, with no bundling or contracts. Over 100 channels are available for as low as PS1.49 a month, including two originals (Strike for anime and Heera for Indian movies and shows). The new offerings will have their own lineups, including dozens of live and on demand channels. New channels will be added weekly.

One of the biggest advantages of Amazon channels is that it lets customers access their content with one login, no switching between apps or accounts necessary. And the majority of Amazon Channels content is actually downloadable, meaning users can take their shows on the go. And of course, Amazon’s huge catalog of original shows and movies that are a part of Prime Video are included as well.

This marks the first time that many of these networks are available in these countries without a cable subscription, so it’s expected to be a pretty popular feature.

Here’s what Amazon users will be getting:

UK: Discovery, Eurosport Player, hayu, ITV Hub+, MUBI, BFI Player+, MGM, Hopster, Shudder (AMC), Qello Concerts, Tastemade Plus and Amazon’s own Heera channel

Germany and Austria: Arthouse CNMA, E! Entertainment HD, Kixi Select, MGM, MUBI, sportsdigital HD, Studio Universal Classics and Syfy Horror
