Amazon just made it that much easier for potential customers to sample their acclaimed Amazon originals. As of today, full pilot episodes for several of Amazon’s popular original series will be available streaming in full on Amazon Video’s YouTube Channel and Facebook page.
While the lineup doesn’t include all the Amazon pilots available to Amazon Prime subscribers, it does include a solid cross-section of the catalog. In addition to the multiple Emmy-winning Transparent, viewers can sample pilots for Bosch, The Man in the High Castle, Mozart in the Jungle, and Red Oaks. In addition, five kids’ pilots are also included: Annedroids, Just Add Magic, Tumble Leaf, Wishenpoof!, and Gortimer Gibbons’ Life on Normal Street.
Transparent stars Arrested Development‘s Jeffrey Tambor as Mort/Maura, a father of three who reveals to his family that he is transgender and has begun the process of transitioning. Created by Six Feet Under writer Jill Soloway, Transparent has received tons of critical praise for its handling of a complex and timely subject matter. The half-hour series has won multiple Golden Globes and a Primetime Emmy for Tambor’s performance.
Bosch is based on the bestselling novels by Michael Connelly. Titus Welliver (Lost) plays Harry Bosch, a prickly LAPD homicide detective who spends the first season delving into a cold case involving a murdered child.
The Man in the High Castle adapts Philip K. Dick’s classic tale of alternate history. Set in a world where the Axis Powers won World War II, High Castle envisions a North America divided between the Germans and Japanese. Naturally, there’s a growing resistance movement, as well as a mystery involving hints that reality may not be what it seems. The Man in the High Castle returns for a second season on December 16, 2016.
Created by Paul Weitz (About a Boy), Roman Coppola, and Jason Schwartzman (Rushmore), Mozart in the Jungle is based on Blair Tindall’s 2005 memoir of the same name. The show stars Gael Garcia Bernal as brash conductor Rodrigo and Lola Kirke as a young oboist trying to make it in the competitive world of the New York classical music scene.
Red Oaks is a coming-of-age about a college student working at a posh Jewish country club in 1980s New Jersey. The cast includes Paul Reiser, Richard Kind, and Jennifer Grey, and the pilot was directed by David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express).
