The first season of One Mississippi was a critically acclaimed hit for Amazon, so it’s no surprise that a second season was coming. Amazon made that official today though, when they announced an official order of another season.
Both comedy and tragedy, One Mississippi follows a somewhat fictionalized, somewhat real life version of comedian Tig Notaro as she returns to her Mississippi home when her mother (the one person who understood her) unexpectedly passes away. As she tries to copes with the tragedy, she starts dealing with her past and discovers that she perhaps had more in common with her family that she ever knew.
Notaro hinted at a little of what could come in the second season, including whether or not her character pursues Kate, played by Notari’s real life wife. Notaro admits that she’s taking some liberties with her story though, and that the One Mississippi version of herself isn’t guaranteed to line up with the real version.
The second season of the series is scheduled to premiere some time in 2017 only on Prime Video.
