Connoisseurs of all things French have reason to celebrate if they’re a Sling TV subscriber, as the streaming television service is debuting two new French language programming packages.
Rather than offer a “one size fits all” French package, Sling says, two options are available. One has about everything you could think to watch, and one just has the essentials.
If you’re looking for the robust addition, there’s the “French Bouquet” package that costs $15 a month, and provides access to 34 channels, including French news, kids, lifestyle, movies, sports and general entertainment. Both French language and English language channels are in this lineup, which has major networks like TV5MONDE Cinema on Demand, TV5MONDE Info, France 24, TiVi5MONDE, TV5MONDE Style, Trace Urban, Euronews, Eurochannel, Trace Sport Stars, and more. If you want Ligue 1 action, you’ll find it here on beIN SPORTS.
For a lighter option, there’s the “Francais Extra” package, which costs just $5 a month. This package is for viewers who want to add on to their “Best of Live TV” English package (Sling Orange, Sling Blue or Sling Orange + Blue). Four channels are included here: TV5MONDE Cinema on Demand, France 24, TiVi5MONDE and Trace Urban.
This is hardly the first international addition for Sling. They added Spanish language local channels back in December of 2015, Best of Spanish in April of this year, and a Spanish language History channel in May. They also have German, Italian and Polish television packages available, with more languages on the way soon.
International assets are quickly becoming an important part of the streaming television landscape. More people are cutting cable than ever before, and while some are just looking for a skinny bundle with a handful of channels, some are looking a package filled with options. And if Sling can corner that market, expect their subscriber base to keep growing.
