Disney+ Searches Top Google’s Trending List for 2019

By December 11, 2019 No Comments

It’s no surprise that Disney+ was the biggest streaming launch of 2019, but it’s a little surprising to see just how big it really was.

Google released their “Year In Search” review for 2019 yesterday, an annual list that shows what the most popular search terms were among categories like people, news, fashion, home style, songs and more.

It’s an interesting look into what’s popular, especially diving into sections like television. Naturally, Game of Thrones topped the television category, with Stranger Things, When They See Us, and Chernobyl right behind.

But what was really interesting was just the general search category. Despite it only being launched in November, the single most trending search topic for all of 2019 was simply “Disney+.” Of course, when you look at what constitutes the trending list (terms with the highest spike in traffic over a certain period of time this year compared with last year), it makes sense that Disney+ would top the list, as people weren’t talking about (or searching for) it last year.

But still, it shows how remarkably popular the streaming service is.

In the television category, The Mandalorian, the original hit of the streaming service, made the top 5. Baby Yoda led searches starting with the word “Baby,” beating out Baby Shark and royal baby.
