By February 7, 2020 No Comments

A long-rumored reunion of several friends is finally happening. According to Deadline, the entire starring cast of Friends has signed on for a one-hour reunion special. But, you’ll need to be an HBO Max subscriber to join in.

Just a few weeks after the announcement that the entire catalog of the show was leaving Netflix for HBO Max and a few months after the show popped back into the public conscience for its 25th anniversary, it looks like fans are finally getting the closure they’ve wanted.

Each of the six principal cast members is reportedly receiving around $3 million to return for the special. Which one, is pretty nice for an hour’s work, and two, is right in line with the $20 million Netflix paid for several specials from several top comedians.

HBO Max spent heavily on the rights to the show’s 236 episode collection, dropping $425 million in hopes of luring customers to its new streaming service.

Rumors about a reunion special have teased fans for years now, but studio execs and even the show stars frequently downplayed the idea. Matthew Perry sent the speculation into a frenzy earlier this week though with a simple Tweet of “Big news coming…

The Friends reunion special should be available when HBO Max debuts in May of 2020.
