FandaogoNOW, the digital streaming service for the popular movie ticket web site, has struck a deal with HBO to offer some of the network’s biggest shows, like The Sopranos and Game of Thrones for digital download.
To start, the service will HBO shows including Game of Thrones, The Sopranos, Girls, Divorce, Insecure, The Night Of and Band of Brothers. Shows like Silicon Valley, Veep, Ballers, True Detective, and The Newsroom.
There’s no subscription available for FandangoNOW, just individual purchases. To give an example of pricing: right now, Game of Thrones episodes are set at $2.99 for a standard definition version or $3.99 for a high definition version. A full season of GoT will cost $28.99 or $38.99 for SD and HD, respectively.
While FandangoNOW has a library of more than 40,000 titles, they’re often not mentioned among the industry’s biggest content names. For most people, Fandango just means movie tickets. Adam Rockmore, FandangoNOW’s Chief Marketing Officer, hopes this move changes that perception though. “HBO is synonymous with high-quality programming. By selling HBO’s original content,” he said, “including award-winning series like Game of Thrones and more in the coming months, FandangoNow continues to expand the breadth and scope of quality entertainment available to its customers to enjoy anytime and from anywhere.”
