Watch NFL Playoffs online

It’s been a fantastic year for football fans, with tons of edge-of-your-seat action all season long. As we head toward the end of the NFL Playoffs, fans won’t want to miss a second of the action. Many of our readers are wondering how to watch NFL Playoffs online, so we put together this handy guide to help out. Keep reading to learn how you can stream NFL Playoffs online, without cable TV!

The 2017 Playoffs kick off on January 7th, 2017, with two exciting games; Raiders vs Texans, and Lions vs Seahawks. You won’t want to miss these games, and luckily it’s now possible to stream NFL Playoff games online, even without cable or satellite TV. Here’s how:

Watch NFL Playoffs Online with DIRECTV NOW

There are now several ways to enjoy a NFL Playoffs live stream, but currently the best way is to use a streaming service known as DIRECTV NOW. This all-new service was just launched a few months ago, but it’s already taking over the online streaming industry with fantastic deals on some great channel packages. Here’s how it works:

  • DIRECTV NOW is an online streaming service
  • Does not require cable or satellite subscriptions
  • It works over the internet, so you can watch from anywhere
  • Plans start at $35 a month for 60+ channels
  • You can get up to 100+ channels in the larger packages
  • You can watch all these channels live, anywhere you have internet
  • You can watch on computers, smartphones, tablets, streaming devices and more

A device like an Apple TV, Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV stick, etc will let you watch NFL Playoffs games online, directly on your flatscreen. You can also watch on the go with your smartphone or computer. This flexibility is a huge advantage of this service.

The NFL Playoffs networks include ESPN, NBC, FOX (home of Super Bowl 51) and CBS. The first three of these channels are included in DIRECTV NOW’s channel offerings, which means the majority of the Playoffs can be streamed via DIRECTV NOW. However, do note that NBC and FOX are only live in select areas, whereas ESPN is live nationwide. Check out our DIRECTV NOW review for details. You can also watch NFL Playoffs online free for a week with their free 7-day trial.

Use Sling TV to Stream NFL Playoffs Online without Cable

sling tv

Sling TV is a popular online streaming service that’s been around for nearly 2 years now. It’s the most established live streaming service out there, and also one of the most affordable. At $25 a month, it’s one of the cheapest options to watch NFL Playoff game online. You can watch on almost any device, so it’s very flexible.

Like DIRECTV NOW, Sling TV works over the internet. It lets you stream 30+ channels for $20 a month. For the most channels, you’ll want Sling Orange+Blue for $40 a month. Key channels offered include ESPN/ESPN2, NBC and FOX, all of which will be useful for NFL Playoffs streaming. Again, NBC and FOX are only in some areas. Check our Sling TV review for more info.

Right now, Sling TV offers a few great limited-time deals, including a free Roku device, or a discounted Apple TV device. These deals require a certain commitment, usually of 3 months of service. Beyond that, Sling TV is contract-free. There’s also a free 7-day trial available.

Use CBS All Access to Watch CBS-Hosted Playoffs Games

cbs all access review

CBS All Access is a streaming service designed for fans of CBS shows. It offers on-demand access to 8,500+ episodes of hit CBS shows. So what does this have to do with NFL Playoffs streaming? Well, it was recently announced that CBS will now make all CBS-hosted NFL games available via the CBS All Access service. This is great news for football fans, particularly considering CBS will host several NFL Playoffs games.

CBS All Access (review here) is available for as low as $5.99 a month, with no contract required. This is far from a complete solution for NFL Playoff streaming, as it only covers the CBS-hosted games, but it’s a great method nonetheless. There’s a free 7-day trial available, as well.

Use PlayStation Vue to Watch NFL Playoffs Online

PlayStation Vue reviewPlayStation Vue is another streaming service that is similar to Sling TV and DIRECTV NOW. It works on most devices, including PlayStation consoles, Roku, Apple TV, etc. Plans start from $30 a month, although for packages including local channels like NBC and FOX (which you’ll want to watch NFL Playoff game live stream), you’re looking at at least $40 a month. ESPN is included in all packages.

Vue is a good service, but there are some restrictions. Local channels are only available in select areas. Additionally, mobile viewing is restricted, so you won’t be able to stream NFL Playoff games while outside of your home.

Watch NFL Playoffs Online Free with a Digital Antenna

Surprisingly, it’s actually possible to catch a NFL Playoffs live stream for free, using a digital antenna. Most games will air on NBC, FOX, or CBS, which are all over-the-air networks. Using a good quality digital antenna, you’ll be able to catch these games live with no subscription required. ESPN-hosted games will not be available via antenna, however.

Again, this is not a complete football playoffs streaming solution, but hey – it’s free!

Catch Up with On-Demand Games via NFL Game Pass

NFL Game Pass is the NFL’s official streaming service. It’s a solid way to catch up on games you may have missed. Basically, games are uploaded to the service shortly after the game airs. So, you won’t be able to watch a NFL Playoffs live stream with this service, but instead, you’ll catch the games on-demand at your convenience.

(International) Use NFL Game Pass International to Stream Playoff Games Live

If you’re an NFL fan living outside of the USA, you can use the international version of NFL Game Pass. The difference with this version vs. the USA version is that NFL Game Pass International lets you stream games live. So, this is a true NFL Playoff live stream option.

2017 NFL Playoffs Schedule

The 2017 NFL Playoffs are sure to be as epic as ever. If you’re like me, you can’t wait for the action to begin. Hopefully, you now feel fully prepared to watch the Playoffs online!

  1. Thanks for writing this! Just got done signing up for DIRECTV Now & CBS All Access, and I’m about to cancel Sling. $41 essentially for access to all NFL games as well as a better channel lineup than my cable provider offers anywhere near that price range.
