Today, there are a few different services that you can use to stream live NBA games, which we’ll cover in detail below. Here is our complete guide to watch NBA games online.
Watch the NBA Live Stream on DIRECTV NOW
DIRECTV NOW is a new streaming service available from AT&T directed at attracting cord cutters. It offers many options, including ESPN, TNT, and regional Comcast SportsNet in some markets, to watch NBA games online. It starts at just $35 per month for the base package of over 60 networks.
DIRECTV NOW is an internet streaming service and does not require any hook up to cable or satellite. You can stream from most devices, and new devices are being added to the service as it expands.
To stream NBA games, DIRECTV NOW has ESPN, ESPN2, TNT, NBA TV, ABC in select markets, and live coverage of local games aired on regional FOX Sports and Comcast sports networks. Additionally, the service gives you access to the WatchESPN App, which provides additional coverage including ABC-hosted games (even if you don’t live in an area where ABC is offered). Plus you get tons of television networks for the price. To sum up, with DIRECTV NOW you can catch NBA streams of:
- Every game on ESPN, TNT, NBA TV, and ABC, regardless of where you live
- Every game aired on your local regional FOX Sports network and/or your Comcast SportsNet network
- These regional networks are not offered everywhere. However, fans of the following teams who live near their teams will get the relevant local sports channel with DIRECTV NOW:
- Atlanta Hawks, Boston Celtics, Brooklyn Nets, Charlotte Hornets, Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, Dallas Mavericks, Detroit Pistons, Golden State Warriors, Indiana Pacers, LA Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies, Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks, Minnesota Timberwolves, New Orleans Pelicans, Oklahoma City Thunder, Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns, Sacramento Kings, San Antonio Spurs, and Washington Wizards
- If your team is included on the list above, and you live in your team’s broadcasting area, you should get a regional sports network from DIRECTV NOW that will cover ALL of your teams games!
- If your team is not listed, or you don’t live near your team, you will not get the regional network, but you will still be able to enjoy all nationally broadcast games on ESPN, TNT, NBA TV, and ABC.
DIRECTV NOW gives you the NBA stream on almost any device, from streaming devices to computers to smartphones and more. And as the Playoffs approach, DIRECTV NOW will also be the best way to watch NBA Playoffs online. For more info, check out our review of DIRECTV NOW.

Stream NBA Games on Sling TV
Another option to watch NBA online is Sling TV. Like its other streaming television counterparts, it offers several opportunities to watch your favorite basketball teams on cable and network television.
Sling offers multiple options to stream NBA games online. You can stream live NBA games on ESPN, TNT and games aired on ABC through ESPN3. If you pick up the Sports Extra package for just $10 more a month, you also have NBA TV. The FOX regional sports channels are available in select cities and also offer NBA streaming.
All of this is just $20 per month with the Sling Orange base package. Except for the FOX Sports regional networks, which are on the $25 per month Sling Blue package. Check out which one is a better fit for you.
Sling TV works on the most popular players as well as your computer or smartphone at home or on the go. If you need a device, Sling TV now offers a FREE Roku streaming player when you prepay for 2 months of Sling TV. Here is our review of Sling TV for more information.

Watch NBA Online with PlayStation Vue
Another good NBA streaming option is PlayStation Vue. This service, from Sony, can turn your gaming console into a cable replacement tool. Vue, like DIRECTV NOW and Sling TV, offers many of the networks in their base package that will allow you to stream NBA games live.
PlayStation Vue starts at $29.99 per month. Or, for areas with live local channels, it is only $39.99 per month. Key NBA live stream networks include ESPN, ESPN2, TNT and NBA TV.
It works with PS3/PS4, iOS and Android apps, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV and Chromecast. The NBA live stream will be in crisp HD, so long as you have a good internet connection. Here is our review of PlayStation Vue.
Vue also offers a FREE 7-day trial for new members!
Use FuboTV to Watch NBA Live Stream
FuboTV is a new online streaming service that focuses on providing live sports coverage for cord-cutters. It’s available for $35 per month, for 40+ channels, most of which are sporting channels. For NBA streaming, they key channels are NBA TV, and select regional sports networks (from both Comcast Sportsnet and FOX Sports).
If FuboTV offers your regional sports network, this can be a good option to stream live NBA games. However, it does not offer ESPN or TNT, two channels which are very important for the nationally broadcast games. So, it’s a decent option, but right now there are better methods out there for NBA streams. Read our FuboTV review for more info.
