Sling TV Launches on Apple TV and Adds New Channels

Finally, Sling TV has rounded out their device support. Today, Sling TV officially announced they have launched on the 4th generation Apple TV. The new Apple TV app also features the debut of the brand new user interface that Sling TV first showed off at CES back in January 2016.

Along with the big announcement, Sling TV also had a couple other big pieces of news:

 

Sling TV Adds Viacom Channels

After much speculation of the Dish Network / Viacom agreement getting held up by Sling’s desire to add Viacom channels, Sling TV has officially added 12 Viacom channels. These channels include:

  • Comedy Central
  • BET
  • Spike
  • MTV
  • Nick Jr.
  • VH1 and more

How will these channels fit in? According to Sling TV, the packages will change as follows:

 

Single-stream Best of Live TV Updates

Sling TV’s $20 per month Best of Live TV single-stream service will now include Comedy Central. The other Viacom channels will be spread across the following channels:

  • Kids Extra: Nick Jr., NickToons, TeenNick, Disney Jr., Disney XD, Boomerang, Baby TV and Duck TV.
  • Comedy Plus Extra: MTV, Spike, MTV2, Logo, CMT, TV Land and truTV.
  • Lifestyle Plus Extra: VH1, BET, Cooking Channel, DIY, FYI, WE TV and Lifetime Movie Network.

 

Beta Multi-Stream Updates

Comedy Central, Nick Jr. and BET will be added to the core package of the multi-stream service. The other channels will be as follows:

  • Kids Extra – Beta: NickToons, TeenNick, Boomerang, Baby TV and Duck TV.
  • Comedy Plus Extra – Beta: MTV, Spike, MTV2, Logo, CMT and TV Land.
  • Lifestyle Plus Extra – Beta: VH1, Cooking Channel, DIY, FYI, WE TV and Lifetime Movie Network.

Sling TV Adds FS2, FXX, and Nat Geo WILD Content

Slign TV is also working hard to round out their Beta multi-stream package with more FOX-owned channels. This includes FXX (yay Always Sunny in Philadelphia!), FS2 (great news for soccer fans), and Nat Geo WILD. FXX and Nat Geo WILD will only feature on-demand content, however.
