Cutting cable just got a lot easier for people who have a newer model smart TV from LG.
Starting this week, Sling TV is now the first live and on-demand streaming television service to become available on LG Smart TVs. The streaming TV service has added support for almost all of 2016’s webOS 3.0 Smart TV, and will add LG’s 2017 webOS 3.5 models in the next few months. Support is expected to carry on for every LG smart TV from here on out.
So what exactly does this mean for LG Smart TV owners? It means they’re now able to watch watch live and on demand content from Sling TV
on a LG Smart TV without having to use a streaming box or stick. Instead of dealing with the hassle of switching inputs, customers can now just download the Sling TV app in the LG launcher bar or the LG Content Store. It also means customers can sign up for Sling TV directly from the app on their LG Smart TV, creating a unique TV viewing experience without even leaving their main screen.
“Even with today’s ‘always on-the-go’ lifestyle, we know watching TV from the living room is still as important to our customers as ever,” said Ben Weinberger, chief product officer of Sling TV. “Offering Sling TV on LG’s award-winning, top-of-the-line smart TVs gives viewers more control over how they watch Sling TV so they can view their favorite programs without the need for additional devices or unnecessary input-switching.”
With Sling TV, LG Smart TV users can customize their television viewing experience with either the Sling Orange package at $20 a month or the Sling Blue package at $25 a month, plus extra add-ons like sports, news, kids, comedies, movies, and more.
According to the Sling TV web site, the following LG television models are now compatible with Sling service:
- OLED G6
- OLED E6
- OLED C6
- OLED B6
