Good news for fans of the CBS All Access show The Good Fight: the fight will go on for a little longer. CBS announced this week that the show, which is a follow up to the hit The Good Wife, was being renewed for a second season, which will debut some time in 2018.
The show takes place one year after the events of the popular series The Good Wife. A huge financial scandal has ruined the reputation of a young lawyer, while wiping out her godmother/mentor Diane Lockhart’s savings. Forced out of their law firm, the head to Chicago for a new start. Christine Baranski continues her role as Diane Lockhart.
The Good Fight is CBS All Access’ first original drama, and one of their most successful shows to date. CBS doesn’t release specific viewership numbers, but the series was fairly well received by critics. The series was slated to be launched in spring, but when the other All Access original, Star Trek: Discovery, hit some delays, the show got fast tracked.
“We’re only a few episodes into the first season and the reaction from CBS All Access subscribers and critics alike has been phenomenal,” said CBS Interactive President and COO Marc DeBevoise. “This series and its characters are just beginning, and we can’t wait to see where Robert and Michelle King, their creative team and the amazing cast take The Good Fight next.”
The first season of the show is available to stream now, with new episodes being released every Sunday. CBS All Access is a streaming service that has over 8,500 episodes of CBS content (both current and older shows) streaming for just $5.99 a month. Add in their originals (like Good Fight and the new Star Trek), plus an option to watch CBS live, and it’s really not a bad price for the content.
